Sewing Tips & Tricks - Jackie Clark                            
New Sewer to Beginner plus - 5 part class
This 5 part class will teach you some sewing basics such as using your feet to do different techniques, selecting patterns and fabric and basic fitting.  In the last 2 classes you will use some of your newly learned techniques to create a jacket.  Whether you have a little knowledge of sewing or no knowledge at all , this is the class for you.
Class fee is $130 plus pattern and supplies
1 - Friday, February 19th 7pm - 10pm
Discuss threads, needles, fabrics and pattern reading, take measurements and do sewing exercises
2 - Friday, February 26th 7pm - 9pm
Learn the basics of your machine and which foot to use. Practice utility stitches such as basting, topstitching, gathering, blind hem and stitch in the ditch
3 - Friday, March 5th 7pm - 10pm
In this session you will learn to hem, do flat-felled & French seams, sew darts, make pintucks and put in zippers
4 - Friday March 12th 7pm - 9pm
This week we will start the jacket with layout and cutting and incorporate some of the techniques already learned
5 - Friday, March 19th 7pm - 10pm
We will complete the jacket

February - Serger Sampler Quilt Block Two: Woven Strips

Practice using luscious and lustrous threads to jazz up simple strips of fabric in a weaving technique that is not limited to quilts, but can be applied to garments and home dec serging as well.

Beginning in February, Embroidery  Club is $10 per month with a $10 store credit given the day of class if you show up.  Sometimes the purchase of a kit or design is required.  The purpose of embroidery club is to learn an embroidery technique, you must know how to use your machine.  We  may just do practice samples to be used in projects at home

February - Twin Needle Shadow Work

Saturday, February 13th 10am - 12pm
Using a twin needle you will create a subtle shadowed embroidery often seen in heirloom.

 

March - Quilting in the Hoop
Wednesday, March 10th or Saturday, March 13th 10am - 12pm
We will do some piecing and embroidering quilt blocks in the hoop.
